Selen Uçer — Biography

Selen Uçer was born in Istanbul; sources give sharply different birth years, ranging from 1973 to 1983, so her exact age is uncertain. After the Austrian High School, she graduated in chemistry from Boğaziçi University, performed with the Boğaziçi University Players as a student, and attended the Istanbul State Conservatory's Singing Department part time. She studied for a year on scholarship at Academy Istanbul before completing a master's in acting at Roosevelt University in Chicago, where her play American Dream was staged Off-Broadway by the Ensemble Theatre.

She made her first appearance in the Cinderella episode of Anlat İstanbul, then shared the Best Actress award with Ayça Damgacı at the 15th Adana Golden Boll festival for playing Gül in Ara (2007); she also appeared in Bornova Bornova, Yabancı, Kumun Tadı and Kaygı. Her role in Aşk, Büyü, vs. (2019) brought her Best Actress honours from the Golden Orange, the 39th Istanbul Film Festival and the Turkish Film Critics Association.

She has also appeared in the series Binbir Gece, Hanımın Çiftliği, Çukur, Masumiyet and Kara Tahta, was nominated in eleven categories at the Beijing International Film Festival for Gündüz Apollon Gece Athena, and took on the character Altın in the 2026 series Anne Yarısı.
