7 Dwarves – Men Alone in the Wood

7 Dwarves – Men Alone in the Wood (German: 7 Zwerge – Männer allein im Wald) is a 2004 German comedy directed by Sven Unterwaldt from a screenplay by Bernd Eilert. Created by and starring Otto Waalkes, the film loosely reworks the Brothers Grimm tale of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs while spoofing several other Grimm fairy tales. Its ensemble includes Hilmi Sözer alongside Nina Hagen, Cosma Shiva Hagen, Heinz Hoenig and Mavie Hörbiger. Backed by Filmstiftung NRW, the picture drew almost seven million cinema-goers, ranking as the second most successful release in German cinemas in 2004 and counting among the most successful German films since attendance records began in 1968.

That box-office triumph led to a 2006 sequel, 7 Dwarves: The Forest Is Not Enough, and the 2014 computer-animated spin-off The Seventh Dwarf. Running 85 minutes, the film remains a landmark of popular German comedy.
