8 Women

8 Women is a 2002 French-Italian film written and directed by François Ozon, adapted with Marina de Van from Robert Thomas's 1958 stage play. Blending musical, comedy and murder-mystery elements, it reunites some of the most celebrated actresses of French cinema.

In the 1950s, eight women gather at a snowbound country house to celebrate Christmas, only to discover the family patriarch Marcel dead in his bed, stabbed in the back. Cut off from the outside world, each woman becomes a suspect with her own secret and motive. Starring Catherine Deneuve, Isabelle Huppert, Emmanuelle Béart, Fanny Ardant and others, the film won a Silver Bear at the Berlin Film Festival for its ensemble cast and the European Film Award for Best Actress shared by its eight leads.
