A Long Ride from Hell

A Long Ride from Hell (original Italian title Vivo per la tua morte) is a 1968 Italian Spaghetti Western directed by Camillo Bazzoni, who worked behind the camera under the alias Alex Burks. Based on Gordon D. Shirreffs' novel Judas Gun, the film was scripted by Steve Reeves together with Roberto Natale.

The picture holds a special place as the final screen appearance of bodybuilder and peplum star Steve Reeves before his retirement. Reeves, who had once declined the lead role in A Fistful of Dollars, financed the production himself after watching Clint Eastwood's spaghetti westerns triumph at the box office. The gamble failed: the film performed poorly, and Reeves walked away from filmmaking for good that same year. It opened in German-speaking cinemas on 4 July 1969 under the title Ich bin ein entflohener Kettensträfling.
