Hunting Time (Av Zamanı)

Hunting Time is a 1988 Turkish drama directed by Erden Kıral from a screenplay by Ferit Edgü, who also wrote the source work. Produced by Mine Film, it features music by Sarper Özsan and cinematography by Kenan Ormanlar.

Set against the violence and turmoil surrounding the 1980 military coup in Turkey, the story follows a writer who withdraws to Cunda Island during days when terror grips everyday life. There he meets a widowed woman working on the island, and the inspiration she gives him draws him back to writing. Aytaç Arman plays the writer, alongside Zihni Küçümen, Şerif Sezer, Nüvit Özdoğru and Dilaver Uyanık.

The film received the Best Film award at the 2nd Ankara Film Festival and was selected for the 38th Berlin International Film Festival.
