TV Series · 2023 · 5 people

Known internationally as Another Love, the Turkish television series Bambaşka Biri combines drama, crime and romantic thriller. Made by Tims&B Productions, it began on Fox on September 11, 2023 and ended after a single season of 16 episodes, each about two hours long, on January 13, 2024. It also travelled abroad: in France, Novelas TV re-edited it into 49 episodes of 45 minutes and aired them between September 27, 2025 and March 14, 2026.

The story starts with the murder of Hamdi Atılbay in a forest. The killing brings together Leyla Gediz, a young prosecutor who wants to leave her messy past behind and build her own order, and Kenan Öztürk, a famous, ambitious news anchor. It threatens not only their newly growing love but everything they thought they knew about their lives. Burak Deniz plays Kenan Öztürk and Hande Erçel plays Leyla Gediz. Gülçin Hatıhan plays Şahinde Gediz, and Aslı Orcan and Ferit Aktuğ are also in the cast.

Neslihan Yeşilyurt directed first, with Özlem Günhan and Gül Sarıaltın taking over later. Ethem Özışık wrote the series, and Onur Sener, Lokman Maral and Seçil Çömlekçi are also credited as writers.

Series Binger A series devotee tracking character arcs, cast chemistry and season pacing.

Bambaşka Biri is a single-season, 16-episode series, and I think that brevity works in its favour. Opening with a murder in a forest, the story pushes the prosecutor Leyla and the news anchor Kenan into the same investigation and weaves their budding love together with the tension. The chemistry between Hande Erçel and Burak Deniz is the show's strongest asset, and Gülçin Hatıhan's Şahinde also sticks in the mind. But with each episode running close to two hours, the pace sags in the middle. The change in the director's chair also causes small ripples in tone. Still, it keeps you curious right to the end.

Action & Thriller Fan Puts pace, tension and set pieces first; little patience for slow drama.

When Bambaşka Biri opened with a murder in a forest, my expectations went up. Pulling a prosecutor and a famous anchor into the same case is a good thriller setup. But the series leans hard on the romance, and the tension keeps stalling in two-hour episodes. If the crime side had been kept tighter, it could have been far more gripping. It's better suited to fans of romantic thrillers.

Cinephile Looks at script, editing and directing choices; keeps a distance from formula films.

Bambaşka Biri is an ambitious genre blend that tries to hold drama, crime and romantic thriller together. Ethem Özışık's story uses the murder as a catalyst that shakes the two leads' pasts and the order they have built, a smart choice for tying the crime plot to character drama. The problem is structural: the two-hour episode format of Turkish series pushes the story into needless repetition and drawn-out scenes. Its re-edit in France into 49 episodes of 45 minutes is an interesting hint at how the material might work at a tighter rhythm. Direction passing between three names also leaves a sense of inconsistency in the visual language. The acting, overall, is the production's most reliable element.
