Bang Boom Bang

Bang Boom Bang – Ein todsicheres Ding ("A Sure Thing") is a 1999 German action comedy directed by Peter Thorwarth, who wrote the screenplay together with Stefan Holtz; Eckhard Jansen served as cinematographer and Rainer Kühn composed the music. The story is set in Unna, a town in Westphalia, and the film was shot both there and in nearby Dortmund.

The large ensemble is headed by Oliver Korittke as Keek, Ralf Richter as Karl-Heinz "Kalle" Grabowski, Martin Semmelrogge as Schlucke and Christian Kahrmann as Mark Kampmann, with Til Schweiger, Alexandra Neldel, Diether Krebs, Markus Knüfken and Jochen Nickel among the supporting players. Hilmi Sözer plays a character who shares his first name, Hilmi.

Drawing close to half a million cinemagoers, the film marked Thorwarth's breakthrough as a director. It opened what became known as the Unna Trilogy — named after his home town and rounded out by Was nicht passt, wird passend gemacht (2002) and the less successful Goldene Zeiten (2006).
