For a Few Dollars More (Birkaç Dolar İçin)

Shot in 1965 by Sergio Leone, the spaghetti western Per qualche dollaro in più (For a Few Dollars More) is an international co-production between Italy, West Germany and Spain, and forms the middle chapter of his Dollars Trilogy, after A Fistful of Dollars (1964) and before The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (1966). Ennio Morricone wrote the celebrated score, and much of the picture was filmed around Almería, Spain.

The plot centres on two bounty hunters drawn to the ten-thousand-dollar reward on the head of El Indio (Gian Maria Volonté), a vicious escaped convict: the poncho-clad gunman Monco (Clint Eastwood) and the disciplined Colonel Douglas Mortimer (Lee Van Cleef). Rivals at first, they decide to cooperate, infiltrating Indio's gang to sabotage a planned bank robbery. Money, however, is not Mortimer's true motive; he is settling an old personal account with the outlaw. Klaus Kinski appears as one of the gang members. Released in the United States in 1967, the film became a success and is now counted among the classics of its genre.
