Black Volga

Black Volga (Azerbaijani: Qara "Volqa") is a 1994 Azerbaijani feature film directed by Elşən Məmmədov and produced by the Azerbaijanfilm studio. Blending drama with detective elements, the film runs about 86 minutes and was written by screenwriter Nariman Abdülrahmanlı. The cast is led by Rasim Balayev, one of Azerbaijan's most prominent actors, alongside Muxtar Maniyev, Nəsir Sadıqzadə, Laləzar Mustafayeva, Fuad Poladov and Nadir Əzməmmədov. Made in the Azerbaijani language, it belongs to the wave of national cinema produced in the years following the country's independence from the Soviet Union. The title refers to the Volga, the iconic Soviet-era automobile, around which the story's dramatic and crime-driven events unfold.
