Waiting for the Clouds (Bulutları Beklerken)

Waiting for the Clouds (Bulutları Beklerken) is a 2003 drama film directed by Yeşim Ustaoğlu, who co-wrote the screenplay with Petros Markaris. A co-production between Turkey, France, and Germany, it is adapted from Georgios Andreadis' autobiographical work Tamama and stands as Ustaoğlu's third feature, following Journey to the Sun.

The film tells the story of Eleni, a young girl from a Greek family forced to leave the Black Sea region during World War I. Adopted by a Turkish family and renamed Ayşe, she spends decades concealing her true identity. When her sister Selma dies years later, she is compelled to confront her past and travels to Greece in search of her lost brother. Rüçhan Çalışkur, Rıdvan Yağcı, and İsmail Baysan star. The film features an original score by Michael Galasso and was screened at the Montréal World Film Festival.
