Dear Detective

Tendre Poulet (released internationally as Dear Detective) is a French police comedy directed by Philippe de Broca, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Michel Audiard. The picture is based on the 1976 novel Le Commissaire Tanquerelle et le Frelon by Jean-Paul Rouland and Claude Olivier, and it premiered in French cinemas on 18 January 1978. Annie Girardot, Philippe Noiret, Catherine Alric and Hubert Deschamps head the cast, with Georges Wilson, Anna Gaylor and Guy Marchand among the other performers. At roughly 105 minutes, the film mixes detective intrigue with comedy in the style of French popular cinema of the period.
