Diabolik

Angela and Luciana Giussani's comic series of the same name, created in 1962, reached the screen for the second time with Diabolik, a 2021 Italian crime action film; Mario Bava's Danger: Diabolik had come first, in 1968. Marco and Antonio Manetti, known as the Manetti Bros., directed this version, which runs about 133 minutes. The film premiered at the Noir in Festival on 15 December 2021 and was released in Italian cinemas the following day by 01 Distribution.

The story centres on the first meeting of the famed thief Diabolik and his partner and accomplice Eva Kant, told in the third issue of the original series, L'arresto di Diabolik. Luca Marinelli plays Diabolik, Miriam Leone is Eva Kant and Valerio Mastandrea plays Inspector Ginko. Alessandro Roja, Serena Rossi, Luca Di Giovanni, Vanessa Scalera, Roberto Citran, Antonino Iuorio, Pier Giorgio Bellocchio and Urbano Barberini also appear.

The film grew into a series with two sequels, Diabolik: Ginko Attacks! (2022) and Diabolik: Who Are You? (2023).
