Dog Day
Dog Day (original title: Canicule) is a 1984 French-British action thriller directed by Yves Boisset. It is adapted from the 1982 novel of the same name by Jean Vautrin, the pen name of Jean Herman. The story follows a criminal who turns up at a remote farmhouse with the police close behind him and several million dollars in his possession. The film stars Hollywood actor Lee Marvin, who had just finished shooting the thriller Gorky Park (1983), alongside a supporting cast that includes Tina Louise, Juliette Mills, Bernadette Lafont and Victor Lanoux. Released in France on 11 January 1984, the picture is also known internationally under its English-language title Dog Day, a literal rendering of the French word for the sweltering dog days of summer.
