Dragged Across Concrete
Written and directed by S. Craig Zahler, Dragged Across Concrete is a 2018 neo-noir crime thriller centering on two police detectives who are suspended without pay after footage of them roughing up a suspect leaks to the media. Brett Ridgeman, a weary veteran willing to do anything in the name of justice, and his younger partner Anthony Lurasetti find themselves broke and disgraced, and turn to the criminal underworld to claim what they feel the job owes them. Their path crosses with two childhood friends, one recently released from prison, who have signed on to a heist orchestrated by a calculating professional thief, and the encounter spirals toward violence. Mel Gibson and Vince Vaughn lead an ensemble cast that also includes Tory Kittles, Michael Jai White, Jennifer Carpenter, Laurie Holden, Thomas Kretschmann, and Udo Kier. The film premiered at the 75th Venice Film Festival in September 2018 and received a limited theatrical and on-demand release in March 2019, drawing praise for Gibson's performance and criticism for its length and brutality.
