Four Queens for an Ace

Four Queens for an Ace (original French title Carré de dames pour un as) is a 1966 spy film made as a co-production between France, Spain and Italy. Directed by Jacques Poitrenaud, who also co-wrote the screenplay together with Jean-Loup Dabadie and Georges Bardawil, the picture is adapted from a novel by Michael Loggan. Roger Hanin and Sylva Koscina head the cast, supported by Catherine Allégret, Dominique Wilms, François Maistre, Guy Delorme, Henri Crémieux, Jean-Pierre Darras and Laura Valenzuela, with the celebrated French singer and composer Serge Gainsbourg also among the performers. Shot in French and running about 95 minutes, the film belongs to the wave of European espionage thrillers popular in the mid-1960s. It reached Spanish and Italian audiences under the titles Demasiadas mujeres para Layton and Layton... bambole e karatè respectively, and it is also known in English as An Ace and Four Queens.
