Sin City is a 2005 American neo-noir crime anthology film co-directed by Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller, with Quentin Tarantino as a guest director. Adapted from Miller's comic book series of the same name, it interweaves largely separate stories set in the fictional, corrupt Basin City: ex-convict Marv hunting the killer of his one-night love, private investigator Dwight caught in a street war, and aging police officer Hartigan protecting a young girl from a disfigured serial killer. The ensemble cast includes Jessica Alba, Mickey Rourke, Bruce Willis, Clive Owen and Elijah Wood. The film became known for its distinctive visual style, rendering most scenes in black and white while keeping or adding color on selected objects.

Screened in competition at the 2005 Cannes Film Festival, it won the Technical Grand Prize for its visual design. Made on a $40 million budget, it grossed roughly $158 million worldwide. A sequel, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, again directed by Miller and Rodriguez, was released in 2014.
