Highway Pickup

Chair de poule (French for "goosebumps"), released in the United States as Highway Pickup, is a 1963 French-Italian crime film directed by Julien Duvivier. The story is adapted from James Hadley Chase's 1960 novel Come Easy, Go Easy, which itself borrowed several plot elements from James M. Cain's The Postman Always Rings Twice. The cast includes Robert Hossein, Catherine Rouvel, Jean Sorel and Georges Wilson. Although the action was relocated to France, the picture draws heavily on the style of American film noir, notably Tay Garnett's version of The Postman Always Rings Twice. Built around a gripping criminal intrigue of greed and betrayal, it stands as a solidly crafted detective drama that remains within the conventions of the genre. Duvivier co-wrote the screenplay with René Barjavel.
