K is a thriller co-produced by France and Germany, released in 1997 under the direction of Alexandre Arcady, who also served as producer and shared writing duties with Antoine Lacomblez and Serge Raffy. The picture draws on Guy Konopnicki's novel Pas de kaddish pour Sylberstein. Filmed in French with a running time of about 135 minutes, it is fronted by Isabella Ferrari, Marthe Keller and Julien Courbey, while the supporting ensemble features Richard Berry, Jean-François Stévenin and singer Keren Ann among others. As a screen version of a literary work, the film reflects Arcady's habit of guiding his own projects closely from the writing stage through to completion.
