Isabella Ferrari — Biography

Isabella Ferrari, born Isabella Fogliazza on 31 March 1964 in Ponte dell’Olio, in the province of Piacenza, has built a career on the Italian stage, in cinema and on television. She made her screen debut in 1984 with Le Bon Roi Dagobert and, in 1995, won the Volpi Cup for Best Supporting Actress at the Venice Film Festival for her role in The Story of a Poor Young Man. Elsewhere she is most widely recognized as police chief Giovanna Scalise from the first two seasons of the crime drama Distretto di Polizia, which aired from 2000 to 2002. Her later honors include a Marc’Aurelio d’Argento for Best Actress at the Rome Film Festival for And They Call It Summer and a David di Donatello award. She has also appeared in Paolo Sorrentino’s Oscar-winning The Great Beauty and, in 2024, in his film Parthenope.
