Above the Law (Katiller)

Above the Law (original title Tueurs) is a 2017 Belgian-French crime thriller co-directed by François Troukens and Jean-François Hensgens. Shot in French from a screenplay by Troukens, the film stars Lubna Azabal alongside performers such as Olivier Gourmet and Bouli Lanners.

The story draws on the real, still-unsolved mass killings committed in Belgium's Brabant province between 1982 and 1985. After a bank robbery, hitmen who murder the witnesses turn robber Frank Valken into a target of both the police and the true perpetrators of the past. The film had its world premiere on 5 September 2017 at the 74th Venice International Film Festival, then earned nine nominations at the 9th Magritte Awards, including Best Film and Best Director, winning Best Actress for Lubna Azabal.
