Le tartuffe

Le tartuffe is a 1984 French comedy film directed by and starring Gérard Depardieu. Adapted from Molière's celebrated play Tartuffe, it marked Depardieu's first work as a director, with Marlène Bertin sharing the directing credit. The screenplay draws directly on Molière's original text.

The roughly 140-minute production features a cast that includes François Périer, Jacques Sereys, Élisabeth Depardieu, André Wilms and Bernard Freyd. The film was screened in the Un Certain Regard section at the 1984 Cannes Film Festival, bringing it international attention.
