Lennon or McCartney

Lennon or McCartney is a short documentary from 2014, directed by Matt Schichter. It lines up the answers of 550 celebrities, taken from interviews recorded over the years, to a single question: which of the two former Beatles is better, John Lennon or Paul McCartney?

Those who weigh in include the Arctic Monkeys, Benedict Cumberbatch, Bridgit Mendler, Carly Rae Jepsen, Justin Bieber, Metallica, Miss Piggy, Morgan Freeman, Sylvester Stallone, Steve-O and Tommy Chong. In the tally, 282 pick John Lennon and 196 pick Paul McCartney, while 15 say George Harrison and four say Ringo Starr. Jimi Hendrix, Lou Reed, Keith Richards and Oasis get one vote each, and 50 people give no answer.

At the time of release, Schichter said he had all the interview footage but had not thought of compiling it until a month earlier. He simply went for it, hoping people would enjoy it.
