Gina Gershon — Biography

Gina Gershon was born in Los Angeles on 10 June 1962 and began working in film in the early 1980s. After early supporting parts in Cocktail and Red Heat in 1988, she reached international recognition in 1995 with her lead role in Showgirls, then went on to notable parts in Bound, Face/Off and The Insider. She kept working steadily through the 2000s and 2010s, appearing in Killer Joe, House of Versace and Emily the Criminal, among others. On television she took recurring roles on FX's Rescue Me and HBO's How to Make It in America, and later played Jughead's mother Gladys Jones on Riverdale. Beyond acting she is also a singer and screenwriter, and became known to Turkish audiences through the 2010 film Five Minarets in New York, whose promotion included a visit to Bitlis.
