Elementary

Elementary is an American crime drama that reimagines Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes stories in present-day New York City. Created by Robert Doherty, it stars Jonny Lee Miller as Holmes, a recovering addict who once consulted for Scotland Yard, and Lucy Liu as Dr. Joan Watson, a former surgeon hired by Holmes's father to serve as his sober companion. Holmes aids the NYPD in cracking difficult cases, though his disregard for procedure regularly puts him at odds with Captain Thomas Gregson. Over time Watson evolves from companion into his apprentice and ultimately his equal partner. The series also follows Holmes's long-running battle with Jamie Moriarty, his nemesis and former lover, alongside figures such as Detective Marcus Bell, his brother Mycroft and his father Morland. Airing on CBS from September 27, 2012 to August 15, 2019, the show ran seven seasons and 154 episodes, earning praise for its performances, writing and fresh take on the source material.
