Operation Sabre

Operation Sabre (Sablja) is a 2024 eight-episode Serbian political drama and historical crime miniseries. It depicts the 2003 assassination of Serbian Prime Minister Zoran Đinđić and the ensuing police operation codenamed 'Sablja', which investigated the involvement of the Zemun clan and the Special Operations Unit in the crime. The events unfold through the perspectives of a journalist, a police officer and a criminal, with flashbacks illuminating Serbia's political climate between 2000 and 2003.

Directed by Goran Stanković and Vladimir Tagić, who co-wrote the screenplay with Maja Pelević, the series was produced by Radio Television of Serbia and AGITPROP. Its first two episodes premiered at Canneseries, where the entire ensemble received the award for best acting performance. It aired on RTS 1 from 2 to 24 November 2024.
