Raakh

Raakh (translated as "Ashes") is a 1989 Hindi-language Indian action crime film written and directed by Aditya Bhattacharya. Aamir Khan and Supriya Pathak lead the cast, supported by Pankaj Kapur, Jagdeep and Gajanan Bangera. The story follows the young Aamir, who, after helplessly witnessing an attack on the woman he loves, takes justice into his own hands and forms a dark alliance with the disgraced police officer Kapoor.

Made as Aamir Khan's first film after Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, Raakh earned strong critical acclaim, won three National Film Awards in 1989 and gradually built a considerable following. It is also remembered as the Bollywood debut of acclaimed cinematographer Santosh Sivan and film editor A. Sreekar Prasad.
