Rebel

Rebel is a 2022 drama film written and directed by the duo Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, with Jan Van Dyck contributing to the screenplay. A Caviar Films production co-financed by Belgium, Luxembourg, and France, it was shot in French, Arabic, and English. The film had its world premiere on 26 May 2022 in the midnight screening section of the Cannes Film Festival, before reaching French cinemas in August and Belgian cinemas in October 2022 through distributors BAC Films and Wild Bunch.

The story follows Kamal, a young rapper who leaves Belgium for Syria to help war victims, only to be forced into joining ISIS militia forces in Raqqa. Back home, his younger brother Nassim falls into the trap of a radical group promising to reunite him with his brother, while their mother Leïla fights to save her son. Starring Aboubakr Bensaihi, Lubna Azabal, Amir El Arbi, Tara Abboud, and Younes Bouab, the film earned four nominations at the 12th Magritte Awards, including Best Actor and Best Actress.
