Shooting Stars
Directed by Fabien Onteniente, the 2002 French comedy Shooting Stars (original title 3 Zéros) follows two close friends, Tibor and Manu, who dream of making a name for themselves in the world of professional football. Tibor imagines becoming one of the star players of the French national team, while Manu plans to build a career as his manager. To turn this ambition into reality, the pair seek guidance from a man with experience in football circles, which pulls them into the chaotic business behind the sport. Before long, Manu rises to become one of the most famous footballers around. The film stars Lorànt Deutsch, Samuel Le Bihan, Gérard Lanvin and Gérard Darmon, with a screenplay by Onteniente and Philippe Guillard. Mixing humor with a satirical look at the money-driven football industry, the film later received a sequel, Quatre Zéros, released in 2024.
