Sivas

Sivas is a 2014 Turkish-German drama film written and directed by Kaan Müjdeci in his feature debut. Shot in Turkish and running 97 minutes, it premiered in the main competition of the 71st Venice International Film Festival, where it contended for the Golden Lion and won the Special Jury Prize. It was later chosen as Türkiye's entry for Best Foreign Language Film at the 88th Academy Awards, though it was not ultimately nominated.

The story follows Aslan, an eleven-year-old boy living in a small village whose days revolve around school, friends and his crush on his classmate Ayşe. One day he comes across one of the dog fights popular in the area and finds Sivas, an abandoned Kangal dog left wounded after losing a fight. Taking the dog in becomes a turning point in the boy's life. Doğan İzci stars as Aslan alongside the dog Çakır, with Ozan Çelik, Hasan Özdemir, Ezgi Ergin, Furkan Uyar and Okan Avcı also in the cast.
