Last Meeting (Son Bulusma) (translated)
Son Buluşma (The Last Meeting) is a Turkish documentary written and directed by Nesli Çölgeçen, filmed in 2007 and released in 2008. It portrays the memories and daily lives of three of the last surviving veterans of the Turkish War of Independence: Ömer Küyük, Veysel Turan and Yakup Satar.
In the film, "Marksman Private Ömer" from Çorum first visits his commander Mustafa Kemal Atatürk at Anıtkabir in Ankara, then sets out to meet "Combat Medic Corporal Veysel" in Konya and "Cavalryman Yakup" in Eskişehir. All three were over a hundred years old when filming took place in 2006; they share their wartime memories and say farewell to one another. All three died shortly after filming, and none could attend the premiere held on November 14, 2008, in Çorum, Ömer Küyük's hometown.
