The Big Brother

Le Grand Frère (released in English as The Big Brother) is a 1982 French crime drama film directed by Francis Girod, who co-wrote the screenplay with Michel Grisolia. The film stars Gérard Depardieu, with a supporting cast that includes Jean Rochefort, Jacques Villeret, Roger Planchon, Jean-Michel Ribes and Philippe Brizard. Shot in French, the film runs for roughly 115 minutes.

The film was entered into the main competition at the 39th Venice Film Festival, earning international attention. Souad Amidou's performance also brought her a nomination for Most Promising Actress at the 1983 César Awards.
