The Dead Don't Die

Written and directed by Jim Jarmusch, The Dead Don't Die is a 2019 absurdist zombie comedy that takes place in Centerville, a quiet small American town. Strange events begin to pile up: daylight stretches into the night, animals behave oddly, and phones and watches stop working. Soon the dead rise from their graves and start attacking the living. Police officers Cliff Robertson, Ronald Peterson and Mindy Morrison, aided by the enigmatic undertaker Zelda Winston, struggle in vain to contain the escalating zombie invasion. The ensemble cast includes Bill Murray, Adam Driver, Chloë Sevigny, Tilda Swinton, Steve Buscemi, Danny Glover and Selena Gomez, and the film peppers its story with metacinematic jokes and deadpan humor. It had its world premiere on May 14, 2019 as the opening film of the Cannes Film Festival, competing for the Palme d'Or, and was released theatrically in North America on June 14, 2019 by Focus Features. The film received mixed reviews from critics and grossed around 15 million dollars at the box office.
