Steve Buscemi — Biography

Born in Brooklyn, New York, on December 13, 1957, Steven Vincent Buscemi went on to become an American filmmaker and performer best known for character roles across independent and studio cinema. He worked in independent film early in his career, appearing in titles such as Parting Glances, Mystery Train, and In the Soup, before drawing wider attention with his role as Mr. Pink in Quentin Tarantino's Reservoir Dogs. He became a frequent collaborator of the Coen brothers, appearing in Miller's Crossing, Barton Fink, Fargo, and The Big Lebowski, and also took parts in large studio productions such as Armageddon and Con Air. His later film work included Ghost World, Big Fish, and The Death of Stalin, alongside voice performances in the Monsters, Inc. and Hotel Transylvania franchises. On television, he first gained notice in the 1989 television miniseries Lonesome Dove, then earned Emmy nominations for his acting and directing work on The Sopranos, before winning a Golden Globe for his portrayal of Nucky Thompson on HBO's Boardwalk Empire (2010–2014). A web talk show he hosted, Park Bench with Steve Buscemi, later brought him a Primetime Emmy. He has also directed several films, including Trees Lounge and Animal Factory, plus episodes of shows such as The Sopranos and Portlandia.
