The Fascist

The Fascist (original title: Il federale) is a 1961 Italian comedy-drama directed by Luciano Salce, coproduced with France. An early example of the commedia all'italiana style, it was a major popular success in Italy, earning around 310 million lire and ranking seventh among domestic productions in its year of release.

The cast features Ugo Tognazzi, Georges Wilson and Stefania Sandrelli, with Gianrico Tedeschi and Elsa Vazzoler also appearing. The film is further notable as the first feature scored by Ennio Morricone, long before the western soundtracks that would make him famous.
