The Italian Brigands

The Italian Brigands (original title I briganti italiani) is an Italian-French co-production comedy-drama directed by Mario Camerini. Released in France in 1961, though some sources date it to 1962, the film also circulated internationally under the title Seduction of the South. Shot in Italian, it was filmed on location in the southern Italian town of Cerreto Sannita.

The 108-minute film was written by Luciano Vincenzoni, Ghigo De Chiara and Rodolfo Sonego, with Mario Cecchi Gori serving as producer. Its cast brings together prominent Italian and international performers, including Vittorio Gassman, Ernest Borgnine, Rosanna Schiaffino, Katy Jurado, Bernard Blier, Micheline Presle, Akim Tamiroff and Philippe Leroy, while Guido Celano also appears among the ensemble.
