Three Colours: Red (Üç Renk: Kırmızı)

Three Colours: Red is a 1994 romantic mystery drama directed by Polish filmmaker Krzysztof Kieślowski, and the final part of his Three Colours trilogy. Devoted to the red of the French flag and the revolutionary ideal of fraternity, the French-language film was a co-production of France, Poland and Switzerland; Kieślowski co-wrote the screenplay with Krzysztof Piesiewicz, and the score was composed by Zbigniew Preisner.

Set in Geneva, the story follows Valentine, a student and part-time model, who forms an unexpected bond with Joseph Kern, a retired judge who eavesdrops on his neighbours' phone calls, after she accidentally injures his dog. It proved to be Kieślowski's last film before his death in 1996, earned three Academy Award nominations including Best Director, and was disqualified as Switzerland's foreign-language Oscar entry for not being a majority-Swiss production.
