Virginia, la monaca di Monza

Virginia, la monaca di Monza is an Italian-Spanish television film directed by Alberto Sironi and dating from 2004-2005. Starring Giovanna Mezzogiorno in the lead role, it is loosely based on the real-life events of Marianna de Leyva, better known as "The Nun of Monza", whose story became famous through Alessandro Manzoni's novel The Betrothed. The biographical drama consists of two episodes and was broadcast on Rai 1.

The cast also features Cristiana Capotondi and Renato Scarpa alongside performers such as Stefano Dionisi, Marco Foschi and Delia Boccardo. Bringing together actors from Italian and Spanish cinema, the production was filmed in Italian.
