Yeşim Salkım — Biography

Yeşim Salkım was born on 12 April 1968 in Istanbul and spent her childhood in the Kavaklıdere district of Ankara. The daughter of musician Dursun Salkım, she graduated from the Classical Turkish Art Music Department of the State Conservatory at Istanbul Technical University. Her paternal family is of Albanian descent.

She began her music career in 1994 with her first album, Hiç Keyfim Yok, making a strong debut with songs such as Son Sigara and Ben Yoldan Gönüllü Çıktım. In the following years she released albums including Ferman, Yoktan Geliyorum, Hep Böyle Kal, Casablanca and Bizim Şarkımız.

She stepped into acting in 1996 with the role of Emel in the film Eşkıya. In 2001 she drew attention with the role of Sevda Erses in the film Şarkıcı. She appeared in series such as Fosforlu Cevriye, Ateş Dansı, Seher Vakti, Sessiz Gemiler, Huzur Sokağı and Kocamın Ailesi.

In later years she acted in the series Evlat Kokusu, İstanbullu Gelin and Arıza, and in the films Kurt Kapanı, Eğreti Gelin Ladik, Serçenin Gözyaşı and Türkler Çıldırmış Olmalı 2: Mavi Vatan; in 2026 she appeared before cinema audiences with the film Mitoloji Mafyası.
