Asuman Dabak — Biography

Asuman Dabak is a Turkish stage, film and television actress born on 1 February 1970 in the Akhisar district of Manisa. Despite having no formal acting training and having studied tourism and hotel management instead, she moved into performing on the strength of her observational skills, starting out at the Bahçelievler Municipal Theatre. She first appeared on screen as Emine in the series Örümcek and reached wider recognition through the role of Menekşe in Tatlı Hayat. In 2006 she founded her own theatre company under her name, kept up her stage work, took on voice-acting jobs and for a time hosted a program on a private channel. Over her career she has appeared in productions including Dayı, Şans Kapıyı Kırınca, Adem'in Trenleri, Leyla ile Mecnun, Kağıt, Kurtuluş Son Durak, Tutunamayanlar, Hudutsuz Sevda, Eyvah Karım and Aynadaki Yabancı. In her personal life, she married Ümit Birsel in 2005 and the couple had a son named Tuğberk before separating in 2014.
