Paper (Kağıt)

Paper (Kağıt) is a 2010 Turkish comedy-drama film written and directed by Sinan Çetin. After premiering in the national competition of the 47th Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival, it went on nationwide release in Turkey on January 14, 2011. Ayşen Gruda won the Best Supporting Actress award at the Golden Orange for her performance.

Set in 1977, the story follows Emrah, a young idealist trying to shoot his first film. His father, retired customs officer Mehdi Bey, expects him to become a pharmacist, but with the help of his mother Şahane Hanım and his friends, Emrah finds the money—only to run up against bureaucracy. To start filming he needs one final signature from Müzeyyen Hanım, the head of the censorship board, and his fight against an official who enforces an absurd law blindly turns into a tragic confrontation. The cast includes Öner Erkan, Asuman Dabak, Ahmet Mekin and Ayşen Gruda.
