Uğur Bilgin — Biography

Born in 1980 in İstanbul to a family from Rize -- his father a retired state maritime-lines employee, his mother a housewife -- Uğur Bilgin wanted to study theatre after joining the drama club at Yıldız Technical University; when his family refused, he enrolled instead in the Acting Department at Dokuz Eylül University, where he was classmates with fellow future actor Onur Buldu.

He appeared in BKM's series Aşağı Yukarı Yemişlililer and in the film Kağıt, directed by Sinan Çetin, and shared the stage with names such as Ali Sunal, Doğa Rutkay, Alper Kul, Özge Borak and Aylin Kontente on Güldür Güldür Show. He was originally cast in the lead role of Otisabi (2013), adapted from Yılmaz Aslantürk's comic, but the cast was changed before filming and the part went to Tim Seyfi instead.

He appeared in the films Plajda (2008), Kağıt (2010), Böcek (2014) and Dedemin Fişi (2016), and the series Yalan Dünya and Avrupa Yakası, then became one of the sought-after faces of Turkish comedy cinema with Kolonya Cumhuriyeti (2017), Cici Babam (2018) and Organize İşler Sazan Sarmalı (2019). Playing Mesut on Güldür Güldür Show since 2013 has brought him a wide audience; he keeps his marriage largely out of the public eye but shares anniversary posts with his wife on social media.
