Can Yaman — Biography

Can Yaman was born on 8 November 1989 in Istanbul; on his father's side his family has Albanian roots and a Yugoslav-Macedonian immigrant background. He attended Bilfen College for primary school and finished top of his class at the Italian High School before graduating from Yeditepe University's Faculty of Law and completing his legal training at PricewaterhouseCoopers — before setting corporate law aside for acting lessons with Cüneyt Sayıl.

He made his television debut as Bedir in the 2014 series Gönül İşleri, then appeared in İnadına Aşk, Hangimiz Sevmedik and Dolunay before his breakthrough as Can Divit in Erkenci Kuş (2018-2019), which won him the Golden Butterfly Award for Best Actor in a Romantic Comedy and the Murex d'Or, and saw him named GQ's Man of the Year in 2019. His role in Bay Yanlış brought a further Golden Butterfly nomination in 2021.

Now based in Italy and fluent in Italian, Spanish, German and English, Yaman went on to star in the Italian series Che Dio ci Aiuti and Viola Come il Mare, became the face of brands including TUDORS, Dolce & Gabbana and Mercedes-Benz, launched his own fragrance, and published the autobiography Sembra strano anche a me in 2021. That same year he founded the charity Can Yaman For Children, which supports hospitalised children. After Sandokan and El Turco, he co-hosted the 2026 Sanremo Music Festival and continues work on an international Spanish-language series.
