Özge Gürel — Biography

Özge Gürel Çayoğlu was born in Istanbul on 5 February 1987, and although her family came from the district of Silivri, she lived there until finishing secondary school. She is of Circassian descent on her father's side and descended from Thessaloniki immigrants on her mother's. After leaving the International Trade programme at Beykent University unfinished, she took acting and then casting-direction classes, and stepped onto television screens in 2010 as the missing girl Zeynep in Kızım Nerede.

Following Huzur Sokağı and Muhteşem Yüzyıl, she played Ada in Medcezir in 2014 and, the same year, gained wider recognition in Kiraz Mevsimi as Öykü Acar; the show went on to become the first Turkish series broadcast on Italy's Canale 5 in 2016-2017. In 2017 she played Haziran in Yıldızlar Şahidim and, opposite Can Yaman, Nazlı Pınar in Dolunay; between 2018 and 2019 she took the role of Nilüfer Can in Muhteşem İkili. In 2020 she reunited with Can Yaman as Ezgi İnal in Bay Yanlış, and was later shortlisted for best actress at the 57th Golden Orange Film Festival for the film Kar Kırmızı, directed by Atalay Taşdiken.

Gürel married actor Serkan Çayoğlu on 14 July 2022 in Karlsruhe, Germany, and has since continued her television career in series such as Sipahi and Hayaller ve Hayatlar.
