My mother (Annem) (translated)

Annem (My Mother) is a Turkish drama film directed by Mustafa Kotan, released in cinemas on 20 September 2019. The story centers on a mother and daughter living in a small village. Nazlı is a young woman who feels ashamed of her mother and dreams of escaping her as soon as possible, while her mother Ayşe is a devoted woman ready to do anything for her daughter, determined to overcome every hardship for her sake. After passing the university entrance exams, Nazlı leaves both her village and her mother behind; years later, she decides to return to her mother's side. Sumru Yavrucuk and Özge Gürel headline the cast, joined by Sercan Badur, Tuna Orhan, Itır Esen and Fatma Toptaş. The screenplay was written by Ayşe Balıbey Tanıl, Evren Erdoğan and Bener Karaçor, with music by Candan Erçetin.
