Mesut Akusta — Biography
Born in Konya, Mesut Akusta attended primary school there and secondary school in Afyon, his mother's hometown; after his father died in 1985 he moved with his family to Ankara, where he began acting in children's plays that same year and spent six years in children's theatre. While studying at the Faculty of Literature and Arts he joined the Hadi Çaman Yeditepe Oyuncuları company in 1992 and started appearing in series and films from 1993, also performing in Nezihe Araz's play Cahide and in musicals such as Fehim Paşa Konağı and Atları da Vururlar. He became known through series such as Kara Melek, Deli Yürek, Kurtlar Vadisi Pusu and Ezel, and took the lead role of Kendal Şamverdi in Karagül between 2013 and 2016. In cinema he stood out in Her Şey Çok Güzel Olacak, Dağ and 7. Koğuştaki Mucize, played Ekrem in Eşkıya Dünyaya Hükümdar Olmaz, appeared in Babil, Teşkilat, Yürek Çıkmazı and Bir Gece Masalı, and starred in the 2023 film Demir Kadın: Neslican. He survived a traffic accident in January 2011 and, in August 2021, suffered a brain hemorrhage at his home in Çankaya and was hospitalized. He married Şafak Özbir in 2016, had a daughter with her in 2017, and the couple divorced in 2024. In 2022 he received an honor award at the 3rd Lider Marka Ödülleri.
