How Are You? (Kako Si?) (translated)

Kako Si? is a 2009 Turkish drama film directed by Özlem Akovalıgil. Told in the spirit of a road movie, it follows two groups of travelers setting out from Istanbul toward Europe, set against the painful recent history of the Balkans.

At the center of the story is the elderly Semahat, whose family emigrated from Sarajevo to Istanbul years ago; despite her advanced age, she decides to make one final journey back to her hometown. Director Fatih finds her story compelling and wants to film the trip as a documentary, while his friend Ufuk joins them to escape the turmoil of his own life. Once they reach Sarajevo, the journey turns into a confrontation with the harsh realities of the recent war. The cast includes Deniz Çakır and Mesut Akusta.
