Deniz Çakır — Biography

Deniz Çakır works as a Turkish actress and dubbing performer; she was born on December 31 in Ankara, though sources disagree between 1981 and 1982. She trained at Ankara State Conservatory's theatre department, part of Hacettepe University, and before finishing her studies she performed in radio plays and voiced advertisements for Ankara Radio, then moved to Istanbul.

Playing Alev marked her television debut, in Kadın İsterse (2004), followed by parts in İki Arada Aşk, Evet Benim / İşte Benim and Avrupa Yakası. Her role as Ferhunde in Yaprak Dökümü (2006) brought her wide recognition and earned her a supporting-actress award. In 2011 she took the lead in the series İffet, and in the 2013 series Muhteşem Yüzyıl she played Şah Sultan, a part that made her known internationally. After Yasak (2014) and the role of Meryem in the 2015 series Eşkıya Dünyaya Hükümdar Olmaz, she appeared in Masumiyet in 2021 and, a year later, in Aslında Özgürsün; the series Çarpıntı, which she joined in 2025, ended early.

Her film credits include lead roles in Kako Si? and 40, both from 2009, and a part opposite Özcan Deniz in Ya Sonra (2011). Beyond acting, she has lent her voice to Turkish-language dubs of Kung Fu Panda and the Iron Man films. She married Bilgehan Baykal in 2023.
