Erkan Bektaş — Biography

Erkan Bektaş was born in Ankara on 11 March 1972, completed his early schooling there, and graduated from the Acting Department at Ankara University's Language and History-Geography Faculty. After performing with troupes such as Stüdyo Oyuncuları, Tiyatro Tempo and the Ercan Yazgan-Bülent Kayabaş Tiyatrosu, he founded his own company, Tiyatro Baykuş, in 2010; he has also worked as a voice actor and dubbing director, and once played the guest role of Kalender Çelebi in an episode of Muhteşem Yüzyıl, singing an Alevi hymn himself for the scene.

He first drew wide notice as Salih in Ihlamurlar Altında (2005), then took on Cezmi in Geriye Kalan and Ateş in Eşkıya Dünyaya Hükümdar Olmaz, besides appearing in Leyla ile Mecnun; in Bir Zamanlar Çukurova he brought Abdülkadir Keskin to life. On film he featured in Bornova Bornova and as Hasan in Snow and the Bear, while on television he played Habtor Bin Said in Sipahi and Vural Bakırcıoğlu in Safir.

In 2025 he took the part of Halil in the series Siyah Kalp and joined Teşkilat as Cevher Yanıkdağ the same year, also appearing in Kuruluş Osman; he is married to Çiçek Acar. Press reports from 2021 said he had undergone heart bypass surgery.
