Sapphire (Safir) (translated)

“Safir” (transl. Sapphire) is a Turkish family drama series produced by NTC Medya, directed by Semih Bağcı and written by Burcu Över. It premiered on ATV on 4 September 2023 and was filmed in Cappadocia. The series concluded after a single season with its 26th episode, broadcast on 26 February 2024.

The story centers on the Gülsoys, one of Cappadocia's leading families. Ateş, the eldest son who once left home rather than submit to his grandfather's authority, returns from America at his mother's request to take over the family business with his brothers Yaman and Okan. Meanwhile Yaman proposes to his beloved Feraye, the daughter of a family working in the Gülsoy mansion, with the family's heirloom sapphire ring — but a tragedy upends everyone's plans. İlhan Şen (Ateş), Özge Yağız (Feraye) and Burak Berkay Akgül (Yaman) star, with Gizem Karaca and Erkan Bektaş also in the cast. The series received a nomination for Best Telenovela at the 2024 International Emmy Awards.
