Elifcan Ongurlar — Biography

Elifcan Ongurlar was born on 7 June 1993 in the Karşıyaka district of İzmir, the daughter of a father who worked as a dramaturge and artistic director at the İzmir Opera; her mother is a retired teacher. She grew up surrounded by classical concerts, opera and theatre, and spent ten years from age eight playing competitive tennis, rising as far as the national team. She trained as an actress in the Theatre Department of Beykent University.

She began acting in 2010 with the series Aşk ve Ceza, then made her film debut in 2012 playing Ayşe in Ateşin Düştüğü Yer, which was submitted as Turkey's entry for the Best Foreign Language Film Oscar that year. Around the same time she appeared in Uçurum and Kayıp Şehir, followed by roles in Kara Ekmek, Medcezir and Kiralık Aşk; she played Sumru in Kızlarım İçin in 2017-2018 and Çilem Akan in Sevgili Geçmiş in 2019. She appeared in Leyla ile Mecnun in 2021, then in 2023 in the film Kadınlara Mahsus and as Doğa in the series Yıldızlar Bana Uzak; in 2026 she joined the cast of Haysiyet.
